Treatment of Periodontal Disease

Definition of Periodontology

Periodontology is a medical discipline that is devoted to the study and treatment of periodontal disease. It mainly targets problems related to the gums. When a certain amount of tartar and plaque build up on the teeth, we see gum inflammation.

This type of gum problem manifests through bleeding while brushing teeth or using dental floss. Persistent bad breath can also be a sign of gum abnormalities. This situation can evolve into gingivitis. When gingivitis is not treated, it can transform into periodontal disease. Periodontal disease can lead to tooth mobility and worsen until it causes loss of teeth.
